To help you through the crazy price hikes of gasoline, PUMP N’ GO searched and found some helpful tips as to how you can find cheaper gas. Thanks to Liz Pulliam Weston from MSN who wrote on this issue.
Gasbuddy.com & GasPriceWatch – search for gas stations with up to date prices.
- Text message the word “gas” or “gas prices” to gas@gasbuddy.com, sms@mobgas.com, gas@fuelgo.com and/or to 415-676-8397 for cheapest gas prices in your locality. The latter is provided by 411sync.com
MsnAuto has a desktop program that you can download to track up to date information on gas prices nationwide.
- Nice neighborhoods tend have more expensive gas due to up keep and maintenance of the gas station, and high taxed properties. Visit the opposite of such neighborhoods for you will find a better bargain.
- Stay away from gas stations near free-ways. They tend to be expensive, but are convenient for pick up and go.
- Join Wholesale clubs such as Costco or Sam’s Club. They tend to have lower gas prices if you buy into their membership club fees per year. Also Discount Retailers such as Kmart and Walmart have gas pumps to compete against other stores so they can bring you in to shop as well.
- Purchase a Gas Rebate Card which or General Purpose Cards that can also give you discounts on purchases made in the gas stations. Check out CardRatings.com
- Keep cash handy because some gas stations don’t accept credit cards. Be cautious in using your debit card because gas stations at times charge a higher fee to use it.
- Use coupons in the mail or from the gas stations that offer it if they have “specials” on car washes in their lot or near by.
- Try to drive less. It pays to save more by doing little.
